Postal Service Mailing Services Prices to Change on May 11, 2009. Annual Pricing Review Results in $0.02 Increase in First-Class Mail Stamp. The Governors of the U.S. Postal Service have approved new prices for mailing services, including a 2-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail stamp to 44 cents. The new prices will go into effect Monday, May 11, 2009. Customers can use their Forever Stamps - regardless of when purchased - to mail 1 ounce letters after the price change, without the need for additional postage.
